Urologic pathology represents a significant portion of the daily surgical pathology practice. Accurate diagnoses, grading and staging of genitourinary tumors are essential for determining adequate treatment strategies and outcome. It is important for practicing pathologists to be up-to-date regarding the evolving field of urologic tumor pathology to be able to correctly identify lesions and compile pathology reports including all the elements necessary for appropriate patient management. New developments have occurred in uropathology, stemming from recent consensus conferences, updates and practice guidelines on prostate, bladder, testis, penile and kidney pathology, the recently published 8th edition of the AJCC staging manual, and the upcoming publication of the 2022 WHO Blue Book on Urinary and Male Genital Tumors (1-8).
